What you will contribute

As a Quality Manager at GELITA South Africa you are responsible for ensuring that products, processes, and systems meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company expectations (both local and global). The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems, conducting audits and inspections, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. In this role you will drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness through training, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration, while investigating and resolving quality issues to prevent recurrence.

  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness throughout the organization.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on quality standards and practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to address quality-related issues.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

What makes you stand out

Qualifications:
  • NQF 7 or higher -Degree in Food Technology or Food Science
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
  • FSSC 22000
  • Six Sigma/ Lean Management
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental)- advantageous

Experience:
  • Total Quality Management in a food manufacturing environment: 10 years
  • Experience operating and managing ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 system: 5 years
  • Proven track record of leading audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives (certification, customer, regulatory): 10 years
  • Experience in process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation: 5 years
  • FCD Act and Appropriate regulations: 5 years
  • HACCP Team Leader or equivalent practical experience: 5 years
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, quality and environmental legislation: 5 years.
  • Budgeting and resource management: 5 years
  • MS Office (intermediate to advanced): 5 years
  • Animal- derived or high -risk food product manufacturing- advantageous
  • Export certification and regulatory environments- advantageous
  • Nutraceutical/ pharmaceutical excipient ingredients- advantageous
  • Environmental and waste minimisation programmes- advantageous
  • Proven experience in (OHSACT) compliance- advantageous

Skills:
  • Strong understanding of South African quality legislation, regulations and systems.
  • Excellent risk assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong administrative and reporting ability.
  • Confident communication and training facilitation skills across all employee levels.
  • Ability to influence behaviour and promote a positive quality culture.
  • Good analytical and investigation skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and quality reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
