Discover the heart of our operations at the GELITA South Africa plant, where a growing team of more than 70 staff members has been shaping success for over 70 years.

As the sole gelatin plant in the country, we proudly supply about two thirds of the total domestic demand. Our products serve specialised needs in food, pharmaceutical and other technical applications.

  • Raw Materials: 
    Our raw material is bovine hide, principally sourced from tanning works, slaughterhouses, and meat processors across South Africa and neighbouring countries. This ensures not only the sustainability of our operations but also contributes to the economic fabric of the local communities.
  • Crafting Quality to Customer Specifications: 
    Our commitment to quality extends to the careful blending of gelatin, tailored precisely to meet customer specifications. Stringent controls are in place throughout the production process, ensuring that every product leaving our facility maintains GELITA´s highest standards.
