Our Corporate Code of Conduct and values guide our ethical and cultural principles. Adhering to food safety standards like FSSC 22000 and IFS, we foster a culture that prioritizes quality and safety. Our corporate culture emphasizes vigilance and meticulousness, and we actively support our employees in identifying and preventing any deviations that may compromise the safety, quality, and legality of our products. Through open communication channels, such as shop floor meetings and ideas management, we encourage our staff to contribute their suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement.
Promoting Animal Welfare
At GELITA, we prioritize fair and species-appropriate livestock farming to ensure animal welfare. We actively support measures aimed at improving animal welfare conditions. Throughout our supply chain, we adhere to regulatory requirements for animal welfare, from animal husbandry to transportation and slaughter. Our raw materials come exclusively from healthy animals slaughtered in approved abattoirs, following thorough veterinary inspection. Ante-mortem inspections verify compliance with animal welfare regulations and are conducted by official veterinarians to ensure oversight by relevant authorities.
We hold our suppliers accountable by contractually obliging them to fully comply with animal welfare regulations. In addition to official inspections, our certified quality management system includes supplier audits to assess adherence to animal welfare standards. In cases of proven violations, suppliers must provide detailed plans for remediation, failure of which may result in suspension.

German Animal Welfare Initiative
Since 2018, GELITA has supported the German Animal Welfare Initiative (Initiative Tierwohl), a voluntary commitment by the agricultural, meat industry, and food trade sectors to promote sustainable and animal-friendly meat production. Although gelatin manufacturers do not deal with live animals, we are committed to promoting animal welfare in the supply chain.

GME has taken social responsibility to heart by supporting all reasonable measures to improve sustainability and animal welfare.
