New Study Supports BODYBALANCE® for Sports Nutrition Innovation

A new randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study adds further scientific support for BODYBALANCE® Bioactive Collagen Peptides, GELITA’s targeted ingredient solution for innovative sports nutrition and active lifestyle products.

Published in Frontiers in Physiology, the study is the first of its kind to systematically examine subtype-specific intramuscular collagen adaptations – types I, III and IV – in response to long-term collagen supplementation during resistance training in humans. The results show that daily supplementation with BODYBALANCE® Bioactive Collagen Peptides, combined with 12 weeks of high-load resistance training, led to a significantly greater increase in endomysial collagen type I content than training with placebo. Collagen type I is an important structural component within muscle tissue and contributes to the extracellular matrix that supports skeletal myofibers.

In the trial, 29 healthy male participants consumed either 15 g per day of specific collagen peptides or a placebo while following a structured resistance training program. The BODYBALANCE® group achieved a 29.8% increase in endomysial collagen type I content, compared with 9.9% in the placebo group – an approximately 3.5-fold greater increase.
