About 25%1 of all sports-related injuries involve the hand or wrist, with boxers particularly at risk. Once an injury has occurred, it is essential to have a good treatment plan that includes not only medical and physical assessments, but also nutritional interventions to minimise downtime and optimise recovery. Thanks to her smart recovery plan, including supplementation with one of our Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP®), Caroline Cruveillier, a young professional boxer from France, was able to resume her boxing training 4 months earlier than expected.

On the ropes

The boxing career of 25-year-old Caroline has soared in the last few years, as she has made a name for herself in competitions such as the European and World Championships. Her biggest success so far was winning the European U22 Championship in 2021. Unfortunately, though, her career suffered a setback when she ruptured the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) in her right wrist. The ligament complex connects the bones of the hand with the bones of the forearm, which makes the wrist particularly vulnerable to injuries. The key role of the TFCC is to provide stability and cushioning to the wrist, which is one of the most complicated joints in the body due to this structural intricacy.

Supporting fast recovery

Due to the complexity of TFCC, Caroline required surgery on her injured wrist. To support the recovery process, she decided to take 5g of TENDOFORTE® – one of our Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP®) – daily for several months. These BCP® can stimulate the structure-forming cells of tendons and ligaments to produce more collagen molecules. Studies have shown that TENDOFORTE® helps people return to sport and previous levels of performance more quickly after injury and high intensity training, and this was certainly the case for Caroline: “TENDOFORTE® did a great job! My wrist has healed far quicker than expected. My surgeon was amazed. I was able to return to training after just 8 months instead of the 12 months originally predicted.”

Going for gold

After returning to her usually training regime, Caroline is more motivated than ever: “The next challenge is to get through qualification for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It would be such an honour to box in my home country. I’m very grateful to be able to pursue this dream thanks to the fast healing of my wrist. I highly recommend TENDOFORTE® supplementation to other athletes.”

Good luck in punching your way to the top in Paris, Caroline!
