Eberbach, June 3, 2019. With its product FORTIBONE®, GELITA AG received the German Innovation Award 2019 in the category "Excellence in Business to Business" in the "Pharmaceuticals" area. The bioactive collagen peptide FORTIBONE® has been proven to counteract bone loss. The German Innovation Award recognizes future-oriented innovations that have a lasting effect and offer people added value.

Due to increasing life expectancy, osteoporosis and osteopenia, the early stages of osteoporosis, are on the rise and are becoming a global health problem. Extensive clinical research has shown that the purely natural, bioactive collagen peptide FORTIBONE® can demonstrably combat bone loss.

FORTIBONE® demonstrates efficacy in clinical study
According to a clinical study published in 2018, the regular intake of FORTIBONE® led to a significant improvement in bone mineral density of five to seven percent in the vertebral body and femoral neck. Now the bioactive collagen peptide also won over the jury of the 2019 German Innovation Award, which honored the product by GELITA, one of the world's leading manufacturers of collagen proteins, in the category "Excellence in Business to Business" within the "Pharmaceuticals" category.

Michael Teppner, Head of Marketing and Communication comments: "We are very proud of this award, which confirms our company's innovative strength, and acknowledges our efforts to verify the efficacy of our products scientifically". GELITA received the German Innovation Award for the second time in a row. In 2018, the detergent additive NOVOTEC® CB800 was distinguished with the award. Thanks to FORTIBONE® we have now succeeded in winning the prize for the health sector as well.

Multiple awards
For FORTIBONE®, the German Innovation Award is already the fourth award in the space of two years. In 2018, the product received the "Fi South America Innovation Award", the highest award for ingredients, products, and dietary supplements in South America, as well as the global "NutraIngredients Award" and the worldwide "Best Functional Ingredient of the Year" award.

Future-oriented innovations
The German Innovation Award is initiated and implemented by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), which was established by the German Bundestag and endowed by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The Design Council competitions have been distinguishing design, brand, and innovative achievements of international merit since 1953. This year's competition attracted a total of 695 submissions, including entries from industry giants as well as hidden champions and start-ups.
