But, offering much more than just a conference, this inspiring and fun event served up a comprehensive mixture of high-quality presentations, an interactive program of varied activities and plenty of peer-to-peer networking.

A Clean solution, indeed!

In the metalworking industry, cooling lubricants are needed in many milling, drilling and grinding applications astools, work pieces and equipment must be protected from the heat  and wear. Currently the most common cooling lubricants consist of water for cooling, mineral oil for lubricating and emulsifiers to stabilize these water-and-oil mixtures.

ADDING INDULGENCE TO WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Overweight, obesity and the increasing frequency of lifestyle diseases are the unfortunate and highly visible consequences of poor nutrition and a lack of physical activity. Although simply consuming fewer calories and expending more energy would be a simple enough formula to halt this trend, it’s not working! In fact, the problem is growing as quickly as our waistlines. Eating less sugar and fat is not a viable solution; and although industry has provided acceptable systems for sugar replacement, fat reduction is far more complicated.

MARVELLOUS MARSHMALLOWS: FOAMING AT ITS BEST

Marshmallows are sweets that have been popular for decades. Although marshmallows seem quite modern, they do in fact date back to the ancient Egyptians in 2000 BC who made a honey based candy and thickened it with the sap of the marsh mallow plant (Althea officinalis). Fast forward to France in the 19th century: the first whipped marshmallows appeared when marsh mallow sap was combined with egg white and sugar. Seeking a more efficient manufacturing process, candy makers in Europe developed the starch mogul system, in which a mixture of marsh mallow root, sugar, egg white and water was heated and then poured into cornstarch molds.
