Constant control of each production step

The GELITA Group as the leading producer of gelatine has always placed high requirements on the quality of their products.

Some years ago a quality mana-gement  system  incorporating  the

ISO 9001 quality standard was initiated; in the mean-time, all of the group factories, both national and international, have been certificated according to this quality standard.

The quality standard employed prevents most pro-cessing problems from occurring in the first place. However, due to the numerous applications made possible by our products, questions do arise; these, however, can always be answered by our highly experienced technical applications and service personnel. To secure this function, our personnel are continuously trained to the highest level.

The quality of raw materials and their suppliers
Our gelatine is produced from natural raw materials obtained from animals approved by the authorities for human consumption and from selected suppliers. One of the most important characteristics to be taken into account is the freshness of the material. By maintaining our own raw materials provision and logistics systems and the exclusive use of special transport vehicles, we guarantee the freshness of all raw materials delivered. Should the material have to be stored prior to use, this takes place in our own refrigerated warehouses. Each batch of raw materials is analyzed and assessed by our quality control representatives and used only on release by them.


The quality of the production process
The route taken by all raw materials up to final product is dominated by one strict criterion: hygiene. For this reason, all production equipment and machines are made of stainless, easy-to-clean materials like plastic, aluminium and, especially, stainless steel.

State-of-the-art production facilities and processes such as multi-filtration, ion exchange and sterilization carried out within an essentially closed system ensure the highest level of product safety. Within our HACCP system, a special department of the quality control laboratory monitors the maintenance of stringent hygiene conditions.

Process control systems are used to support our production personnel. This ensures the highest possible level of reproducibility of the production process.

The quality of the testing process
Constant control of each production step ensures product quality right from the beginning. This comprises not only comprehensive physical, chemical and bacteriological in-process controls and monitoring programs but, especially, the analysis of intermediaries and final products.

With the help of statistical PC programs we know the precise degree of accuracy involved in each analytical procedure. In the form of analytical reports, we document the results of final testing and make them available to our customers. This thus guarantees our adherence to relevant regulations and the maintenance of agreed specifications.
